Intern/Member/Extended Stay Application
Eloin is located approximately 1 hour to the east of the Medford/Ashland area in So. Oregon. We live deep in the wilderness, 1 hour from freeways, stores and gas stations. Your car needs to be in good condition to handle gravel roads in the forest. In some weather conditions a 4 wheel drive truck or car would be required. If we are to pick you up in town we ask that you pay $20 or $30 round trip fee to and from Eloin. If you are bringing your own car, we will meet you in town or give you directions.
Rates:
Guests- There is a limit of two weeks’ stay for guests, unless other arrangements are made with Eloin. All guests are expected to participate in the community’s daily work activities to the best of their ability and to contribute for the costs of food and lodging.
Rates include:• Organic vegan food, two meals a day and snacks. Breakfast by 10am and Dinner around 5pm.• Housing. Simple, comfortable cabins. Some with bathrooms and some not. We have composting outhouses.
Rates: $15 per day, $100 a week. (If these rates are beyond your means, we have a sliding scale to accommodate your situation)Please include a photo with this application.
SAFETY GUIDELINES: We ask you to follow these guidelines for your safety and the safety of others at Eloin.
1. Do not go out into the forest alone without telling someone (preferably staff), which direction you are going and when you think you will be back.
2. Do not use candles or open flames in the cabins, except the glass candles provided.
3. Do not use the wood stoves without training by one of the staff.
4. Do not use an open flame outdoors.
5. If you are not feeling well and want to stay in your cabin, please get word to a staff member.
6. If you want to miss a meal, please let the kitchen know.
7. Do not feed the horses, pet the horses, enter the corrals, or throw things at the horses. You will have horse orientation when you arrive.
8. Please wear safe and appropriate clothing and shoes while hiking in the forest.
9. There are certain areas marked off limits. Do not go there.
10. Do not feed the wild animals.
11. If you are injured, please let a staff member know immediately.
12. If you become frightened, please let us know.
13. Do not leave the land without telling a staff member where you are going and when you will be back.
14. We ask that you use your cell phone sparingly and NOT in public places.
15. If you are having trouble with a guest or staff member, please report the problem to a staff member.

Please Note:Because we have horses that roam at liberty, and other risks that come from living in the wilderness, we require that you sign a Waiver Of Responsibility when you arrive at Eloin.We reserve the right to ask you to leave Eloin at any time during your stay, if things are not working out or if you are not comfortable following our safety, diet and other guidelines. This includes the use of tobacco, alcohol, recreational drugs, aggressive behavior or foul language.
We suggest that you do not bring electronic devises to Eloin. If you bring a cell phone you will be asked to use only when necessary and not in common areas. If you need to have a computer or other electronic devise, please consult with us.
